EVIGENE™
EVIGENE™ is a qualitative hybridization assay using signal amplification that provides rapid (3 hours) detection of specific gene markers in S. aureus and enterococci isolates.
Procedure - 3 Hours Time-to-Results
The EVIGENE test is performed in microwells containing capture probes for the targeted gene. Following the sample preparation, the lysed bacteria containing DNA extracts are added to the appropriate EVIGENE Well along with Detector Probes. Capture probes attached to the bottom of the microwell and the Detector Probes hybridize to the bacterial DNA, if the targeted gene is present, forming capture probe - gene - detector probe complexes.
Excess and unbound detector probes are removed with Wash Solution and Conjugate is added that binds to the capture probe - gene - detector probe complex. Excess Conjugate is then removed with Wash Solution. The Conjugate induces a colorimetric Substrate reaction producing a red color indicating a positive result.
